The New 12eight
So, here it is. The new site, with some bells and whistles. Feel free to poke around and click on things; I’m reasonably certain all the lights work. There are a few things I still have to do, mostly minor fixes. For all intents and purposes, this is now a working blog with pretty colors and a fun new banner (that photo, by the way, was taken by me the day the Sox clinched their ‘05 playoff berth). If you don’t like something, or find something that doesn’t work, just contact me and let me know.
The old site is still up, and I’ll keep it that way. I toyed with the idea of trying to import all my old posts, but it just wasn’t feasible. So, there it is and there it will stay; you can get to it from the link just under the banner. I also put together a series of pages that refer to a few of the posts I had there; just click on the Features link that’s up there as well. In addition to the link to the old site, there’s a link up there to the other blog I write for (regularly but more infrequently), Evan Brunell’s Fire Brand of the American League. Evan and Zach, the other two writers, do great stuff, and if for some reason you haven’t checked it out before, you should.
That’s pretty much the deal. Basically, same shit, different URL.
I mean, aside from all the awesomeness. That’s new.

Wow, in this morning’s Herald were two articles that show the two-headed beast that is our club. Is the club about to run around like a headless chicken at GM meetings, giving the many other GMs a more than stutter step head start. Or is this meeting a typical one where not much happens? My point is this. Is the club leadership at the meetings headless, or is the 4 man contingent going to operate as a seamless unit reporting back to LL and JH?? We as fans might not even be able to tell. Let’s hope our teams presense (sic) there is not translucent, as a long dead ghost would shimmer on the breezes. A silent one, unable to commicate with anyone, or anything.
ANDREW, congrats on your good looking and fast new home. And a good winter season to us all. Yeah, I skipped right past Fall.

Peter - I don’t think anyone outside the Sox FO knows the answer to that question. I strongly doubt that a baseball group like Theo’s folks - even without Theo - will be completely groundless, though. I’m sure they’re going in with a plan; the question is more to do with who will work with them given the unstable condition, and what their orders are in terms of a shopping list.
Also, that may have been one of the more poetic comments I’ve ever gotten. Been saving the good stuff for the new site?

Thank you. Sometimes it just hits me, then I go back to my baffled but happy state.

I’m especially impressed by the post from 1978.

Nice new site. I like the idea of keeping a tally of the roster as it develops, but it is incomplete, though: Cora is under contract, and Timlin has signed a 1 year deal.

Oh crap. Re Cora, I didn’t even look for him in the starting lineup (which is where he is)–thought he’d be on the bench. Oops.

Adam - Good call on Timlin, I wrote up that section before he signed and forgot to update. Thanks. As for Cora, I don’t particularly expect him to be the starter, but… he’s under contract and there’s at least a reasonably chance that he’ll get the nod, so until I hear definitively, he may as well stay there.
